Book Review: Unforgiven by Lauren Kate

I absolutely adored the fallen series when they were first published. The series revolved around the love story of both main characters Lucinda and Daniel. I am not going to give away the story. But I do recommend reading the series first before this one.

Unforgiven tells the story of Cambriel, who was last seen in the rapture before disappearing. This supposedly hints at the reason why he left the sword & cross school (Fallen series). Cam is reminded by Daniel and Lucinda's love story about the love he lost with Lilith, three millennia ago. Now he is back in Lilith's life and only has fifteen days to make her fall in love with him again, a bet he made with Lucifer.

I was so excited to learn about this new book and even more so, that it was about Cam. Cambriel 'Cam' was my favourite character out of the series, so I was sad to see him leave. Cam portrays one of those 'bad' guys. You know you shouldn't date but can't help it. He has the dark hair, pale skin and mysterious green eyes and a smoulder that would make you faint. He is subsequently a jerk in the fallen series. Well, he is a Fallen Angel after all.
However, in Unforgiven he seems different, not as bad ass. We see a different side to him. I love how Lauren decided to show us this almost different, but lovable Cam.

I felt that Lauren Kate did a very good job at this book. I did sometimes feel that it was Daniel and Lucinda all over again. That was soon squished with some chapters going back in time to when Cam and Lilith knew each other and what actually happened. with returning Fallen characters making an appearance, which I loved.

The book read very easily for me. I flew through this book, reading it as soon as I had time. This story is filled with ups and down for the couple and it has you on the edge of your seat, wanting to know more.

Towards the end of the book Lauren doesn't fully end the story and it suggests maybe another book maybe in the pipeline? I hope so :)

I have read a lot of comments from people who are rolling their eyes at this book. Some even begging Lauren to 'let it go' as in the series. I have to say, Lauren if you are reading this then please write as many books in this series as you  can. I loved every minute of each book, for me it's a guilty pleasure and feels kind of Disneyesque? (Think I just created a word).

All that put a side. I fully enjoyed reading this new book in the series and I would highly recommend reading this and the series to those who are into teen fiction, Angels and Demons, and fantasy.

5 out of 5 stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

  1. I've heard so many brilliant things about the fallen series and reading this makes me want to read unforgiven so much that I might just go out and buy the first series so that I'll understand this one hehe :) I love books like this and I really love it when authors write extra books following a series explaining other sides to characters who you always wanted to understand more !

    lots of love, Marianne xxx
